In the struggle to render innovation and freshness, Facebook recently launched their new profile look to millions of its users. The new look's goal is convenience and easier sharing of updates. The most distinguished change you noticed is the row of recently tagged and uploaded photos displayed on top of the profile page.
While some had upgraded their profile page to the new look, some opted to remain in the old version as they wanted it more and were reluctant with the change, which needs them to learn where and which to click around. Whichever it is, the most important concern will always be the privacy of users. I hope Facebook did not sacrifice security and privacy over interface, which I believe did not.
